R.I.P Cupcakes

Happy Halloween!

These R.I.P Cupcakes are both spooky and cute. Also, they are super easy to make, but that’s because I took the shortcut with these rather than making from scratch. I of course prefer homemade desserts, but when you’re in a time crunch sometimes you have to turn to the box mix.

– A box of cake mix.  I used Betty Crocker Devils Food Cake.
When you use box mix it completely tells you the cooking directions, so just read the box, but you will also need:
– 3 eggs
– Vegetable Oil
– Water
– Cupcake tins. I used Halloween tins from Target.
– Cupcake baking trays
– An electric mixer
– Spatula
Then for the fun stuff, aka decorations, you will need:
– Tub of chocolate frosting.
– Candy Bones. I got mine from Target.
– Milano cookies.
– Colored decorative gel.

While the cupcakes are baking, break each Milano cookie in half. To make the process as easy as possible, I lay the cookies on a tray. Grab the colored decorative gel and begin writing R.I.P or whatever saying you wish. Once the cupcakes have baked and cooled, frost each cupcake with dark colored frosting to achieve the look of a graveyard. Place a tombstone cookie on each cupcake and to add the finishing touches, top it off with a few candy bones.

These R.I.P Cupcakes will be a hit at your work luncheon, child’s classroom party, or even just hanging out at home while handing out candy.
